Project Azorian Risk vs. Gain: The CIA Attempted Recovery of a Soviet Ballistic Missile Submarine

 Murray Snyder is a Military Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the U.S. Naval Academy. He has a B.S. from Duke University, an M.S. from the University of California San Diego, and a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, all in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to joining the faculty at the Naval Academy he was a career submarine officer, serving on both fast attack and Trident ballistic missile submarines. Murray was the Commanding Officer of USS NEVADA (SSBN 733) from 1998-2000. He served in the Nuclear Plans and Policy Directorate, J-5 at The Joint Staff from 2001-2003. Murray will join the faculty at GW as a Research Professor of Engineering in January 2012.
