D. Allan Bromley Memorial Lecture: Increasing Diversity in the STEM Workforce

May 01, 2013

Maria Klawe, President of Harvey Mudd College

Leaders from government, business, and academia agree that increasing the participation of women and underrepresented minorities in the STEM workforce is critical to our economic future and to finding the best solutions to the problems facing the world. This talk discusses the underlying causes of why certain groups are underrepresented in some disciplines, and strategies for significantly increasing their participation, including how Harvey Mudd College has increased the female percentage of computer science majors from 10% to over 40%.
